Information for motor sports contestants!

You aren't covered by your standard accident insurance policy if you compete in motor sport events (achievement of maximum speeds), so it is definitely practical to take out motor sport accident insurance.

We now offer motor sport accident insurance with attractive sums insured and low premiums to all participants of motor sport competitions, training events or tests.

Scope of cover

Under the terms and conditions of the accident insurance policy, the policyholder is covered in case of accidents incurred at motor sport events, provided that the event is approved by the DMSB /German Motor Sports Association/ or DMYV /German Motor Yacht Association/ or another FIA-recognised ACN /National Automobile Association/ or a FIM-recognised FMN /National Federation of Motor Sports/. The policyholder competing in foreign events must have DMSB or DMYV authorisation to take part in events abroad.
During the policy period, the policyholder is covered from the time of entering the vehicle immediately prior to the official start of the race or the commencement of official training on the racing circuit. Coverage ends when the policyholder gets out of the vehicle after the official end of the race or training session. If the policyholder retires or is eliminated from the race, coverage ends when he or she gets out of the vehicle and, at latest, when he or she leaves the track.
Training and practice laps that are completed by the policyholder in his motor sport discipline on official circuits or at official training sites are also covered by the insurance policy. Competitive racing gear must be worn during training or practice for the insurance cover to be effective. Insurance cover commences when the driver enters the vehicle immediately before the training or practice session and ends when he or she leaves the vehicle or ends the training/practice session.
Private practice laps that are similar in character to race events are excluded from coverage.

Special obligations in case of loss

When reporting an accident, the policyholder must enclose official confirmation from the event organiser or practice site owner that he or she was an official participant of the event/ training session.

Terms and conditions

The policy is concluded for a one-year term. It is automatically extended by one further year unless written notice of termination is provided. Notice of termination must be provided to the contractual partner at least three months prior to the policy's expiry.

Several accident insurance policies can be taken out concurrently. Always check that you have enough insurance coverage in case 'the worst comes to the worst'.
